Which Hawaiian Island Are You?

You got: Hawaii

The island of Hawaii, also known as the Big Island, is the largest of Hawaii’s main islands. It is the only Hawaiian Island that is still volcanically active.

You got: Maui

Maui is known for its beaches and natural environment – when you think of a Hawaiian vacation, you are thinking about Maui! Maui is the second largest of Hawaii’s main islands and is nicknamed the Valley Isle. The views from Haleakala will appeal to the tourist in you.

You got: Oahu

Oahu is the third largest island of Hawaii – the capital, Honolulu, is here. Oahu is called the Gathering Place, as it has the largest population among the Hawaiian islands. It is also historically important, since Pearl Harbor is located here.

You got: Kauai

Kauai’s mountain ranges are very beautiful and the island is known for its steep cliffs and rugged coastline. Kauai is the oldest of the Hawaiian islands as it is located the farthest away from the hotspot that formed the islands.

You got: Molokai

Molokai lies east of Oahu, across the Kaiwi Channel and north of the island of Lanai. It has a small population and unspoiled natural beauty. Molokai has no traffic lights – it only has Aloha!

You got: Lanai

Lanai is known as the Pineapple Island because in the past the island was covered by a pineapple plantation. Today Lanai is mostly undeveloped and much of its roadways are unpaved. Still, there are two resort hotels and two famous golf courses on the island, so tourism is definitely a large part of the economy.

You got: Niihau

Niihau is the smallest inhabited island in Hawaii, with a total population of 130, most all of whom are Native Hawaiians. Niihau is an arid island in the rainshadow of Kauai, but there are several lakes on the island that have provided wetland habitat for endangered plants and animals. As a result Niihau is home to seabird sanctuaries.

You got: Kahoolawe

Kahoolawe is the only completely uninhabited Hawaiian island. Kahoolawe is arid, located in the rainshadow of Haleakala on Maui. In 1993, the State of Hawaii established the Kahoolawe Island Reserve. As a reserve the island can only be used today for cultural purposes and any commercial development is prohibited.
